Stams Priory

... is a Cistercian priory which can trace its origins back to the 13th century. When approaching the priory through the Inn Valley, one is immediately struck by its towers topped by onion domes, commissioned by Abbot Edmund von Zoz. Between 1650 and 1750, the priory’s Romanesque origins were obscured by baroque additions and alterations, as well as renovation work. Today, the priory greets its visitors with a vista of incredible splendour and ornamentation.
